Tiny Treks – Hollingworth Lake, Rochdale
Start: Hollingworth Lake Visitors Centre, Hollingworth Lake Country Park, Rakewood Rd, Littleborough, OL15 0AQ
Facilities: WC, Parking Pay and Display, Visitors centre, Café, Children’s Play area, Sensory Garden, small indoor nature activities centre.
Walk: Approx 2.5miles (1hrs 30min).
Caution
This walk follows the edge of the lake. At times there are no barriers between the water and the path. Care is also needed where the walk is alongside the road.
Walk instructions
1. Walk up to the road and turn left following the lake edge (Q1, Q2, Q3).
2. Continue along this Lane until you see a tarmac path to the right that goes over a
brick bridge (Q4, Q5). Follow this. (Note the Nature Reserve on the Right).
There is also a bird hide further along, also on the right (Q6).
3. This route is easy to follow and takes the course of the lake. As you get to the
Pavilion and toilets there is a hill behind – Have a look up the hill (Q7).
4. Continue on the lake path passing the sea cadets club house (Q8) over the stone dam
(Q9, Q10).
5. When you reach The Beach pub (Q11), turn right through the car park up to the
road and right to the pay and display car park of the Rowing Club and Hollingworth
Lake Watersports centre where you reach the promenade walkway.
6. Continue along the promenade until you reach a white building (Currently the Wine
Press), where you turn right onto Rakewood Rd and return to the car park and
visitors centre (Q12).
